We know that “community” means more than living within the city limits. Geography is just one thing that defines community. Your community can extend beyond your neighborhood to include your church, your children’s schools and activities, your own hobbies and interests, and much more.
Monroe is a diverse city with lots of vibrant communities, from our pecan orchards to the halls of the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Our medical and business communities make us an economic hub for Northeast Louisiana. The arts and local music scenes add plenty of spice to the mix. But at the core, it is our spirit of community that knits us together as Monroe. And it is that spirit that we intend to showcase in the pages of Metro Leader.
Each month we will deliver our unique approach to Monroe-West Monroe news directly to your mailbox. You’ll read about the latest happenings on the ULM campus, news from your local schools, business owners, artists and musicians. You’ll get tips on staying well from local doctors. We will bring you an encouraging word every month from a local church. And be sure to look for our photographers, and smile as we capture images at a variety of local events.
Metro Leader is not a one-way street. Our goal is news for you and by you. That’s right – by you. We invite you to participate with us. Share your opinions on local news on our editorial page. Visit us online at mnrometroleader.com to answer our “Sound Off” questions. If you know of a good story that needs to be told, share it by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. And if you would like to write stories from your neighborhood or community for Metro Leader, we invite you to email us as well.
