Monroe’s own Louisiana Delta Ballet will be hosting Danse Fleur de Lis, the 2015 Regional Dance America Southwest Festival at the Monroe Civic Center on Mar. 26-28. Twenty-three ballet companies will be showcased, with ballet companies coming from throughout Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Monroe will be represented by both the Louisiana Delta Ballet and the Twin City Ballet Company – which is also working on their big annual production, Ballet Under the Stars.
Events showcased at the festival will include an emerging choreographers concert on Thursday, Mar. 26, a showcase concert on Friday, Mar. 27 and a gala concert on Saturday, Mar. 28. Tickets for the event are $25 and per performance. Tickets are available through the Civic Center’s box office. In addition to the three nights of performances, the festival will include four days of classes and competitions, allowing dancers throughout our region of the country to showcase their talents.
The Regional Dance America Southwest Festival is an annual event, with the host city rotating through regional member companies. It will likely be more than 20 years before the festival comes to Monroe again, so lovers of the arts will want to make sure to take this opportunity to see the best ballet talent the Southwest Region has to offer.
